IARC's GLOBOCAN 2024 estimates put Nepal at about 24,499 new cancer cases and 17,213 cancer deaths in a year. The ratio of deaths to new cases is the part families feel — late presentation and interrupted treatment both drive it.

Cancer treatment cost in India for Nepali patients
There is no single price for cancer treatment, and any website that gives you one before reading your reports is guessing. What we can do is show you exactly which decisions move the number, and get the treating hospital to put its own figure in writing before you leave Nepal.
- Written hospital estimate before travel
- You pay the hospital directly
- NPR 5,000 annual coordination fee — nothing else to us

General information for planning, not medical advice. Diagnosis and treatment decisions rest with the treating doctors and hospitals.
Why so many Nepali families are pricing this at all
Cancer is one of Nepal's largest treatable disease burdens, and a large share of cross-border medical travel from Nepal is oncology.
Those five sites head the GLOBOCAN 2024 estimates for Nepal. Four of the five are treated very differently depending on stage, which is exactly why a price quoted before staging is meaningless.
Source: IARC GLOBOCAN 2024 estimates for Nepal (released July 2026)WHO's comparable 2021 estimates place cancer at roughly 14,100 deaths, behind COPD, ischaemic heart disease and tuberculosis.
Source: WHO Global Health Estimates 2021 (latest comparable country release)Most families ask what it will cost while staging is still incomplete. The honest sequence is the other way round: reports, then specialist opinion, then a written estimate.
What the treatment pathway usually contains
This is a general description of how oncology care is organised at large Indian hospitals. It is not medical advice, and the treating oncologist decides everything below for your case.
- 01Review and re-staging
Blocks and slides are frequently reviewed again on arrival, and imaging may be repeated to a protocol the treating team can act on. This step alone changes the plan in a meaningful share of cases.
- 02Tumour board
Large centres discuss cases across surgical, medical and radiation oncology before committing to a sequence. Ask whether your case will go to a board — it is a fair question.
- 03Systemic therapy
Chemotherapy, and where indicated targeted therapy or immunotherapy. Drug choice is the single largest cost variable in oncology, and generics availability in India is why the arithmetic differs from Western prices.
- 04Radiotherapy
Technique matters to both outcome and price — conventional, conformal, IMRT, IGRT or stereotactic delivery are not interchangeable and are not priced alike.
- 05Surgery
Where the tumour is resectable, the surgical stay, ICU time and reconstruction requirement drive the inpatient portion of the bill.
- 06Follow-up
Scans, marker tests and maintenance therapy continue after you return to Nepal. Ask what can be done at home and what genuinely requires a return visit.
What actually moves the number
Ask any hospital to explain its estimate against this list. A serious estimate answers most of it; a one-line quotation answers none of it.
- Stage and whether the disease is localised, locally advanced or metastatic
- Whether the plan is curative or aimed at control and symptom relief
- The specific drug regimen, number of cycles, and whether targeted or immunotherapy agents are included
- Innovator versus generic or biosimilar drug choice, where a clinically acceptable choice exists
- Radiotherapy technique and number of fractions
- Whether surgery is required, and the expected ICU and ward length of stay
- Molecular or genomic testing, where the oncologist considers it decision-changing
- Blood product support, infection episodes and any unplanned readmission
- City and hospital tier — the same protocol is not priced identically in Delhi NCR, Hyderabad, Chennai and Bengaluru
What a written estimate usually covers
- Consultation, admission, surgeon and anaesthesia charges as itemised by the hospital
- Room category for the stated number of days
- Named chemotherapy or radiotherapy protocol for a stated number of cycles or fractions
- Routine investigations listed in the plan
What sits outside it
- Extra cycles, a change of regimen, or a switch to a different drug class after response assessment
- ICU escalation, prolonged stay and complication management
- High-cost supportive drugs, blood products and antibiotics used beyond the assumed course
- Accommodation and living costs for the family between cycles
We publish no prices on this page. Any figure quoted before a specialist has read your reports is a guess, and a guess is a bad thing to plan a family’s finances around. What we do instead is obtain the hospital’s own written estimate, in its own format, with its assumptions stated — before you decide whether to travel. See how CureYatra handles costs.
What to send us before anything else
Do not attach medical records to the form below. Send a short enquiry first and we will reply with secure sharing instructions and a written consent step.
- Biopsy or histopathology report — this is the document everything else depends on
- All imaging reports: CT, MRI, ultrasound, PET-CT if already done, with the images on CD or in a shared folder
- Blood reports, including tumour markers if done
- Any treatment already given in Nepal: drug names, number of cycles, dates, and the response assessment
- Discharge summaries from any admission

Questions Nepali families ask
Will CureYatra tell me the cancer treatment cost in India before I travel?
We will not invent a figure, and we will not quote one on this page. What we do is send your reports to suitable hospitals and come back with the hospital's own written estimate, in its own format, before you decide to travel. That document is the only figure worth planning against.
Why do different websites show completely different prices for the same cancer?
Because most of them are quoting a starting point for a simple, early-stage, uncomplicated case and calling it the price. Stage, protocol, drug choice and length of stay can move the real number several times over. A range without those assumptions stated is not information.
Do I need an Indian visa for cancer treatment?
Nepali citizens travelling from Nepal generally do not require an Indian visa, subject to the official identity-document and route conditions. We check the requirement for the patient and every companion — including any companion who is not a Nepali citizen — before booking.
Can I start treatment in India and continue it in Nepal?
Often part of the plan can continue at home, and many families do exactly that to control cost. Whether it is safe for your protocol is a decision for the treating oncologist, and it should be written into the discharge plan rather than assumed.
What does CureYatra charge?
NPR 5,000 per patient per year, inclusive of applicable taxes, for coordination only. The first enquiry is free. Every medical charge is paid by you directly to the hospital against its own invoice.
Nepal patient desk · direct enquiry
Send your case from Nepal — the first enquiry is free.
Tell us the diagnosis area and how to reach you. A coordinator replies on WhatsApp or email, explains how to share reports securely, and only then are suitable hospitals asked for a written clinical plan and their own estimate.
- The first enquiry costs nothing. The NPR 5,000 annual case-coordination fee is requested only if you decide to proceed.
- No Indian visa for Nepali citizens entering from Nepal, subject to the official identity-document and route conditions.
- Nepali-language coordination, and consultations in English or Hindi.
- You pay the hospital directly against its own written invoice — never CureYatra.
- No hospital, price, timing or treatment outcome is guaranteed here; the hospital’s written documents always prevail.
