Abuja to India · country planning brief
From Abuja: a country-specific route to specialist care in India.
A treatment journey from Nigeria becomes safer when the clinical question is settled before the travel question. Start with complete records, specialist review and a hospital-issued plan.

India medical travel · Nigeria
Four checks before you book treatment travel.
The correct route depends on the traveller’s passport, residence and current Government of India rules. Use official channels only; CureYatra organises the hospital documents but cannot issue or guarantee a visa.
Obtain the hospital’s written clinical response, estimate and invitation or appointment letter before making a visa application.
Check India Visa Online to determine whether the traveller must use e-Medical, regular/paper Medical Visa or an applicable exemption.
If a visa is required, complete the official form and follow the document, appointment and submission instructions of the Indian Mission responsible for Nigeria.
Check category, validity, entries, attendant conditions and arrival airport. Eligible foreign travellers can complete the free e-Arrival Card within 72 hours before arrival; it is not a visa.
Rules and eligibility can change. The Government of India portal and the relevant Indian Mission remain authoritative for every named traveller.
The journey from Nigeria
Serious medicine, a short trip away.
For advanced super-speciality care — complex cardiac surgery, cancer programmes, living-donor transplants, neurosurgery — Nigerian families increasingly look to India: accredited hospitals, without an assumed waiting-time promise, and written hospital estimates that can be assessed before travel. CureYatra turns that journey into a plan.
- We issue the hospital invitation letter and pre-check your Medical (MED) visa file for the Indian mission serving Nigeria — and once you land, we complete the mandatory FRRO registration (within 14 days) online with you.
- From Lagos or Abuja, one-stop connections via Addis Ababa, Nairobi or the Gulf reach Mumbai and Delhi within the day.
- We guide the USD bank-transfer route and card options, against a written hospital estimate issued before you travel.
- Consultations, reports and daily coordination all run in English.
- One coordinator from airport pickup to fit-to-fly clearance — and video follow-up with your treating doctor after you are home in Nigeria.

Nigeria patient desk
Planning that starts in Nigeria—not at the airport.
Nigerian families typically communicate directly in English and value transparent comparisons between hospitals. We separate the medical estimate, likely stay and attendant costs so the decision is based on the whole journey.
No CureYatra fee is payable before hospital review. INR 5,000 becomes payable only after the patient accepts a hospital appointment and before travel to India. View the full scope, timing and exclusions.
One stop from Lagos / Abuja — Getting here. Schedules and transit requirements can change, so the final itinerary is confirmed only after the hospital accepts the case and the patient is fit to travel.
English throughout — Language support. Scans, pathology, prescriptions and discharge notes are organised into one dated file before they are shared with a hospital.
Medical-visa applications from Nigeria route through High Commission of India, Abuja (High Commission office, Lagos). Indian Missions require a minimum of three working days and often longer*; we prepare the hospital invitation letter and document set the Mission asks for.

Prepare the right records for the condition—not a generic file.
These checklists translate the country evidence into a useful first specialist review. They do not imply that treatment abroad is required.
Chest imaging, oxygen history, cultures, pulmonary notes, blood tests and current medicines.
Birth and NICU summary, growth record, imaging, laboratory reports and current feeding or medicine plan.
Malaria test results, blood counts, liver and kidney tests, treatment history and any complication records.
Stool or culture reports, endoscopy if performed, hydration history, medicines and nutrition assessment.
TB test results, chest imaging, culture or molecular reports, treatment history and current medicines.
Population-level estimates describe health burden; they do not diagnose a person, predict an outcome or establish a need to travel. WHO estimates are modelled and rounded here for readability. IARC cancer values are modelled estimates. A treating specialist must review the patient’s own records before any medical or travel decision.
What the evidence means · Nigeria
Use national context to prepare better questions—not to self-diagnose.
Within a consistent set of clinically distinct causes, WHO’s latest country estimates place Lower respiratory infections, Neonatal conditions and Malaria at the front of Nigeria’s health profile. The estimates are approximately 196,000 deaths, 186,000 deaths and 184,000 deaths in 2021 respectively. They show population burden, not what any individual patient needs.
IARC’s GLOBOCAN 2024 profile estimates 152,261 new cancer cases and 90,795 cancer deaths; Breast, Prostate and Cervix uteri lead by estimated new-case count. For a treatment enquiry, send the diagnosis, dated reports, original images and current medicines first; hospital specialists decide suitability, timing and the written estimate.
