Kabul to India · country planning brief

From Kabul: a country-specific route to specialist care in India.

For a family in Afghanistan, the first useful comparison is not a list of hospital names. It is a documented match between the diagnosis, the required specialty, the correct Indian city and the official travel route.

Clinical contextNeonatal conditions

WHO’s latest comparable country estimates place Neonatal conditions, Ischaemic heart disease and Stroke among the leading selected health priorities. The full evidence profile below covers cancer and non-cancer conditions.

Official entry routeEmbassy medical visa

Use the regular Medical Visa route through the Indian Mission responsible for Afghanistan. Begin only after the hospital has accepted the case and issued the documents requested for the application.

Language planningPersian support requested in advance

سفر شما به سوی شفا. Interpreter availability is confirmed before the relevant appointment, not assumed after arrival.

Indian city matchBengaluru for neurosciences

Other case-dependent options include Hyderabad for multi-speciality care and Chennai for transplant programmes. The shortlist follows specialty depth, acceptance and written estimate.

The first clinical file

Send the records that let the right specialist answer.

For Afghanistan, the frequently considered programmes include Paediatric cardiac surgery, Cancer treatment, Orthopaedic reconstruction. The documents below reduce avoidable back-and-forth.

  • Cancer fileHistopathology, immunohistochemistry, PET/CT or MRI reports, treatment history and current medicines.
  • Heart fileECG, echocardiogram, angiogram images, cardiac blood tests and the cardiologist’s latest advice.
  • Bone & joint fileWeight-bearing X-rays, CT/MRI images, mobility history and details of any earlier operation or implant.

Evidence basis: WHO Global Health Estimates 2021 and IARC GLOBOCAN 2024, reviewed 5 August 2026. Population data informs record preparation; it never diagnoses an individual or establishes a need to travel.

India medical travel · Afghanistan

Four checks before you book treatment travel.

The correct route depends on the traveller’s passport, residence and current Government of India rules. Use official channels only; CureYatra organises the hospital documents but cannot issue or guarantee a visa.

01Hospital accepts the case

Obtain the hospital’s written clinical response, estimate and invitation or appointment letter before making a visa application.

02Confirm the route for Afghanistan

Check India Visa Online to determine whether the traveller must use e-Medical, regular/paper Medical Visa or an applicable exemption.

03Apply through the official channel

If a visa is required, complete the official form and follow the document, appointment and submission instructions of the Indian Mission responsible for Afghanistan.

04Verify approval before travel

Check category, validity, entries, attendant conditions and arrival airport. Eligible foreign travellers can complete the free e-Arrival Card within 72 hours before arrival; it is not a visa.

Rules and eligibility can change. The Government of India portal and the relevant Indian Mission remain authoritative for every named traveller.

The journey from Afghanistan

Serious medicine, a short trip away.

For advanced super-speciality care — complex cardiac surgery, cancer programmes, living-donor transplants, neurosurgery — Afghan families increasingly look to India: accredited hospitals, without an assumed waiting-time promise, and written hospital estimates that can be assessed before travel. CureYatra turns that journey into a plan.

  • We issue the hospital invitation letter and pre-check your Medical (MED) visa file for the Indian mission serving Afghanistan — and once you land, we complete the mandatory FRRO registration (within 14 days) online with you. Visa issuance for Afghan nationals is currently limited — we advise honestly on realistic timelines before you plan.
  • Connections run via the Gulf hubs; we plan each routing case by case and receive you at any Indian airport.
  • Cards and bank transfers are straightforward; your written hospital estimate arrives before you book anything.
  • Pashto and Dari interpreters join consultations and translate reports both ways.
  • One coordinator from airport pickup to fit-to-fly clearance — and video follow-up with your treating doctor after you are home in Afghanistan.

Case-coordination fee · Afghanistan

Pay only after your hospital appointment is confirmed.

The initial enquiry, medical-record review and hospital appointment coordination do not require a CureYatra fee. The fixed INR 5,000 fee becomes payable only after the patient accepts a hospital appointment and decides to travel, and must be paid before arrival in India.

Travel and admission coordination fee INR5,000 per patient · per treatment journey

Afghanistan patient desk

Planning that starts in Afghanistan—not at the airport.

For Afghan families, the first task is confirming the currently available Indian visa channel before any ticket is purchased. We can then organise translated records, the hospital invitation and a realistic route around the patient’s condition.

Coordination fee timing

No CureYatra fee is payable before hospital review. INR 5,000 becomes payable only after the patient accepts a hospital appointment and before travel to India. View the full scope, timing and exclusions.

Travel route

Via Gulf hubs — Getting here. Schedules and transit requirements can change, so the final itinerary is confirmed only after the hospital accepts the case and the patient is fit to travel.

Language and records

Pashto & Dari support — Language support. Scans, pathology, prescriptions and discharge notes are organised into one dated file before they are shared with a hospital.

Official visa route

Medical-visa applications from Afghanistan route through the designated Indian Mission for Afghan applications (see MEA directory). Indian Missions require a minimum of three working days and often longer*; we prepare the hospital invitation letter and document set the Mission asks for.

Evidence-led health profile · Afghanistan

Five major health priorities — using one consistent global standard.

WHO’s latest comparable country cause-of-death release currently estimates 2021. These five cards rank distinct, treatment-relevant areas from the disclosed 18-condition comparison set; they are not presented as WHO’s own published “top five” table. IARC’s newer GLOBOCAN 2024 estimates were released in July 2026.

Prepare the right records for the condition—not a generic file.

These checklists translate the country evidence into a useful first specialist review. They do not imply that treatment abroad is required.

Neonatal conditions

Birth and NICU summary, growth record, imaging, laboratory reports and current feeding or medicine plan.

Ischaemic heart disease

ECG, echocardiogram, angiogram images, cardiac blood tests and the cardiologist’s latest advice.

Stroke

CT or MRI images, stroke timeline, vascular and cardiac tests, rehabilitation notes and current medicines.

Cancer

Pathology, immunohistochemistry, staging scans, treatment history and the latest oncology note.

Lower respiratory infections

Chest imaging, oxygen history, cultures, pulmonary notes, blood tests and current medicines.

Population-level estimates describe health burden; they do not diagnose a person, predict an outcome or establish a need to travel. WHO estimates are modelled and rounded here for readability. IARC cancer values are modelled estimates. A treating specialist must review the patient’s own records before any medical or travel decision.

What the evidence means · Afghanistan

Use national context to prepare better questions—not to self-diagnose.

Within a consistent set of clinically distinct causes, WHO’s latest country estimates place Neonatal conditions, Ischaemic heart disease and Stroke at the front of Afghanistan’s health profile. The estimates are approximately 40,800 deaths, 32,200 deaths and 19,900 deaths in 2021 respectively. They show population burden, not what any individual patient needs.

IARC’s GLOBOCAN 2024 profile estimates 26,268 new cancer cases and 15,848 cancer deaths; Breast, Stomach and Colorectum lead by estimated new-case count. For a treatment enquiry, send the diagnosis, dated reports, original images and current medicines first; hospital specialists decide suitability, timing and the written estimate.

Primary evidence: WHO Global Health Estimates 2021 and IARC GLOBOCAN 2024, reviewed 5 August 2026. Estimates are population-level context only.

Questions from Afghanistan

Asked on every first call.

How is the Indian visa route confirmed for Afghanistan?
Eligibility depends on passport, nationality and route. We check the current position on the official Indian Visa portal and help organise the hospital documentation available for the case. CureYatra cannot guarantee approval, validity or processing time.
Will language be a problem?
Pashto and Dari interpreters join consultations and translate reports both ways. Language and interpreter support are confirmed for the case when required, and a coordinator assists with agreed practical communication.
How do we pay from Afghanistan?
Cards and bank transfers are straightforward; your written hospital estimate arrives before you book anything. Medical charges are paid directly to the hospital. The INR 5,000 CureYatra coordination fee is payable only after appointment confirmation and before travel to India.
When can treatment and follow-up be scheduled?
The hospital confirms timing only after specialist review and acceptance of the case. Travel follows visa confirmation where applicable and fit-to-travel advice. After return to Afghanistan, available video follow-up is coordinated with the treating hospital.
